6 axonometrics, 12 drawings

Below are the chosen concepts to be reflected in the above 12 axonometrics (2 additional ones yet to be drawn)

KENGO KUMA

  • Kuma uses a modular unit at a micro scale to evoke complexity and delicacy on a macro scale.
  • Anti-Volume: Reducing a building to it’s absolute, bare and necessary elements & in doing so achieving a degree of transparency and material expressiveness.
  • Defeated architecture is the co-existance of building and context.
  • The transition of space is fluid through the choice and composition of material that is sympathetic to the context.

KENZO TANGE
  •  Architecture as a balance of gender through brutalism (brute strength/structure) and ornament (delicacy/decoration).
  •  Open to biological growth through architecture and mass, i.e. the founding concept behind 'metabolism'.
  •  Architecture as informed by the patterns of its inhabitants.
  • Organisation of urban space through a civic axis - connecting the building and transportation in a linear fashion.
